Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that the Punjab government has adopted the policy of computerization and e-technology in government affairs and encouraging results are being witnessed, especially in the recovery of taxes. He was addressing the party workers here on Tuesday. He said the system of online payment of taxes is also being introduced.
“Property, token and services taxes are the major source of income of the government and modern computerized technology is being introduced for improving the system of receipt of taxes, as good governance and elimination of corruption is the mission of the government,” he added. According to him, the present government had decided to tax only the elite and well-to-do-people and thus taxes are levied on big houses and increased duties on luxury vehicles. Property tax has been increased after 14 years and this increase will also be imposed on big houses as well as affluent people.
